Welcome to the Beatitudes Center for the Nonviolent Jesus!
This Center was founded and launched on the feast of All Saints, November 1, 2020, to help teach and promote the nonviolence of Jesus, so that we can deepen our Gospel nonviolence; work for an end to racism, poverty, war, nuclear weapons and environmental destruction; and welcome God’s reign of peace and nonviolence here on earth. We offer online zoom classes, workshops, conferences, and retreats, and will start in person conferences in the heart of the Central Coast of California in 2022. Register now for one of our many upcoming programs, and please help us by telling your friends about this new project and promoting us on social media. May we all become Beatitude peacemakers for the Nonviolent Jesus! –Fr. John Dear

LATEST NEWS FROM THE BEATITUDES CENTER

July 1, 2022
Dear friends, Blessings of Christ’s peace to you!
Last year, my friend Robert Ellsberg, author, editor, and publisher of Orbis Books, led a memorable zoom session on “The Beatitudes and the Saints,” based on his best-selling book, All Saints.
Long ago in the 1970s, Robert worked for one of our greatest saints–Dorothy Day. She asked young Robert Ellsberg to edit the Catholic Worker newspaper. Since her death in 1980, Robert has edited her diaries, letters, writings, and now, her famous “On Pilgrimage” columns in two new volumes, “Dorothy Day: On Pilgrimage: The Sixties,” and “Dorothy Day: On Pilgrimage: The Seventies,” (both available from Orbis Books). These two great books gather her best writings from those last two turbulent decades in her life.
I’m delighted to welcome Robert Ellsberg back to lead us in a zoom program on Dorothy Day’s Catholic Worker columns from the 1960s and 1970s. Please join us for this special zoom session on Saturday, July 23rd at 11am Pacific/12pm Mountain/ 1pm Central/ 2pm Eastern time.
